PNC 2025 100 Years of Ford Australia - Model T 1925
Model T 1925
We are pleased to mark 100 Years of Ford Australia â Model T 1925 with this specially crafted Ford Model T 1925 2025 Base Metal Coin.
In 1925 the Ford Motor Company of Australia Limited (known as Ford Australia) was founded as a subsidiary of the Ford Motor Company of Canada, with headquarters in Geelong, Victoria. On 1 July, in an improvised factory in a converted wool store, the first Australian-built Ford vehicle was completed: a Model T. The Model T Ford, launched in the USA in 1908, revolutionised motoring. The first car affordable enough to reach a mass market, it was tough, reliable and easy to maintain. Its low price was partly due to Henry Fordâs adoption of the moving assembly line. This car represented the beginning of the North American companyâs century-long presence in Australia.
The company built a permanent Geelong factory that produced various models over the years, and in 1956 opened a second complex in Broadmeadows, which became its headquarters in 1961. Ford manufacturing in Australia ended in 2016. Ford Australia continues to lead design and development of the Ranger utility and Everest SUV models, and imports vehicles for Australian buyers.
The coinâs reverse presents an illustration of the Ford Model T. As well as the inscription â100 YEARS OF FORD AUSTRALIA 2025â, the reverse also incorporates the âFord 100 Yearsâ logo.
