This coin was issued by the Royal Australian Mint, Canberra to be given in celebration of events such as birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, baby arrivals, graduations, new jobs, promotions and sporting achievements. The reverse design, with coloured highlights, is a playful modern twist on Stuart Delvin's iconic 50-cent piece design featuring the kangaroo and emu.

With an unlimited mintage, each coloured specimen coin is housed encapsulated and mounted on a see-both-sides presentation folder. The inside of the folder is blank to allow a personal message to the gift recipient.

Limited to five per customer, the coin was available through the Royal Australian Mint's call centre, mint shop and on-line eShop from 2 January 2025. The coin was also available at newsXpress outlets. However, no wholesale allocations were made for retail through the RAM's normal dealer network. Despite an unlimited mintage, the Royal Australian Mint reported a sell-out of its initial on-line allocation in early March 2025. A second allocation, made available through the RAM's on-line eShop on 28 March, sold out on 5 April 2025.
