This coin was issued as a celebration of Australia Day - 26th January.Â
The reverse design symbolically depicts Australians linked by ribbons which form a selectively gold plated map of Australia in the centre.
With a limited mintage of 10,000 proofs each coin is housed encapsulated, in a blue leatherette, hinded-lid presentation case and accompanied by a numbered ceertificate of authenticity.
A special coin-holder was incorporated into the packaging to enable a cupro-nickel Australia Day fifty cent coin to be taken from circulation and stored with the silver coin making an Australia Day set.
