This 99.9% pure silver one ounce one dollar proof honours the Australian soldiers "Diggers" of the first World War on Gallipoli or Dardanelles campaign between April 1915 and Janauary 1916. Struck by The Perth Mint this was the first release of the Famous Battles in Australian history. The reverse design depicts an Australian soldier wearing first world war military issue and the background incorporates a colour printed historical image of ANZAC Cove and the inscription Gallipoli 1915.
